4.0 Communications
There is no way to
overstate the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education.
Hence, keeping the lines of communication with parents open and
active is a priority at St. Elizabeth Elementary School.
Beginning with
the first day of school, there is a continual flow of information from the
school to the home. At the end of each week, the Menu-News-Notes for the following week are sent
home with EACH CHILD, and at the end of each month,
the monthly calendar of events is sent home in the same way. Announcements of events, special notifications, and information
from the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) are sent home on an “as
needed” basis.
Specific
information regarding a student’s progress are transmitted to the
parents on a regular basis by way of Gradebook. Each family has
access to their child(ren)'s information at any time, eliminating the need
for printed quarterly progress reports. Teachers are required to post
grades regularly so Gradebook can keep parents apprised of student
progress on a day to day basis. Other sources of information for parents
are:
- Assignment Book
- SchoolNotes (individual teachers
accessed through the website)
- Quarterly report cards
- Scheduled parent-teacher conference
information (following distribution of report cards).
Conferences are also available on request, and conduct referrals are sent when needed.
Open, positive communication between the home and the school is vital to the overall
effectiveness of the educational process. Any questions concerning your child should be directed to the
teacher; however, to minimize impact on the teaching schedule, it is
requested that you contact the school office, who in turn will notify the
teacher of your request. The teacher will contact you as soon as possible within the constraints of
that day’s schedule.
